This comes as both a surprise to me and something that I've put off for far too long. As opposed to drawing this out and making things all dramatic and shit, I'm just going to say it:
I am discontinuing the blogs for the Pokemon video games.
Why, you might ask? Well, there are several factors to this. The most influential contributor to this decision is the fact that I stopped playing the games originally once I beat Gold and Silver. It took me several years to get back into the Pokemon franchise, and I have to thank everyone involved in the tabletop RPG "Pokemon Iridescence" for that renewed love. Of course, I had a lot of catching up to do in order to be any sort of contender in this Generation-V-based game; however, I eventually got there.
Then, X and Y came out and I could be back at the head of the curve. However, having to write down everything that's going on in the game became incredibly taxing and drew away from my enjoyment of the game. In fact, I even avoided playing the game many nights because I just didn't feel like recording my every action in the short time I had each day to play it. Then, aspects of the game started becoming more complicated and difficult to convey through a written medium (such as restaurant battles) and I realized that blogging my progress through the games was not going to work as well as, say, a video let's-play.
In short, there will be no more Yield to Y, there will be no "Delve into Diamond", "Pimping in Platinum", "ForReals in FireRed", "ShitSucks in SoulSilver", or "Wiggle-Breaking in White". I will commit to providing a conclusion to "the Expansion to Emerald" and I will not stop providing endless entertainment with "Wiggle Wiggle Break: An Iridescent Adventure"...but for once, I'd like to just play the game and not worry about forgetting something for the blog.
So, thank you for being there, readers. Thanks for your page-views and your comments, your likes and your laughs. Most of all, thank you for getting me back into my favorite gaming franchise of all time. You were the reason I've gone on for this long, but now...I think it's time for me to play the game uninhibited.
Look on the bright side: it means I may very well be in a condition to play with some of you soon. So there's that.
Thanks again, guys.
Fuck that miserable piece of shit and his bullshit gym team. Zephyr Badges are like the cereal parts of Lucky Charms; no, it's not enjoyable at all, but damn it, you gotta get through that shit first before it gets good and colorful. You hear that, Falkner?
This is your gym. Fuck you.
